OUTREACH PROJECT DIRECTOR

General Nature of Position:  Responsible to provide technical assistance to Rape Crisis Programs, members and allies in New York State to better serve lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender (LGBT) communities, elders, youth, people with disabilities, American Indians and people of African, Asian, Latino descent, immigrants and other underserved populations and to develop resources, plan and coordinate events and trainings to enhance primary prevention, public awareness and understanding of sexual violence and the cultural competencies of service providers.

Reports to:  Director of Training

Minimum Qualifications:  Baccalaureate Degree and/or three years demonstrated success in developing and implementing outreach strategies and events with underserved and un-served communities, strong writing, training, and communication skills, ability travel and valid NYS driver’s license, commitment to ending sexual violence and working for social justice, work well with a team.  Fluency in a language in addition to English is desired but not required.  Ability to use Microsoft office products.

 

Specific Duties:

·        Provide on-going technical assistance to all statewide Rape Crisis Centers

·        Develop focus groups, community education forums and networks of community organizations from service providers and underserved communities statewide

·        Plan and conduct regional meetings and trainings with focus on cultural competency and community collaboration in serving diverse populations

·        Develop speaker’s bureau with expertise from and about different identity groups

·        Develop fact sheets, flyers, brochures, web articles and “frequently asked questions” about sexual assault for different communities, and about effective outreach and services for service providers. 

·        Distribute information via electronic mail and surface mail, tabling at conferences and public events, professional meetings and trainings.

·        Educate community and other leaders about sexual violence and primary prevention.

·        Represent NYSCASA on Task Forces, at community events and conferences as requested

·        Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Training

Department of Health (DOH) Center of Excellence Coordinator (COE Coordinator)

General Nature of Position:  The COE Coordinator is responsible for oversight of planning and implementation of all activities associated with the current and future DOH work plans, technical assistance and organization participation in community education events. Establish and work with community work groups in collaboration with local primary prevention initiatives at various levels to include but not limited to elementary, secondary, and college. Assists in program development as relates to deliverables of the associated DOH work plan inclusive of resource and material approvals. Also serves as part of the program team that oversees the implementation of the mission and vision of NYSCASA.

Reports to:  Director of Training

Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor Degree and/or 3/5 years relevant experience. A strong skill set in training, program development, and community organizing.  Strong communication, organizational and writing skills including computer literacy with Microsoft products;  commitment to and understanding of ending sexual violence and other social justice issues; valid NYS driver’s license.

Specific Duties:

Ensure completion of all deliverables of the DOH CEO work plan current and future: trainings and technical assistance and grant narrative reports to funder

Plan and coordinate implementation of annual Rape Crisis Training Institutes

Coordinate logistics of selected program trainings e.g. webinars and tele-conferences.

Plan and coordinate a yearly meeting in collaboration with DOH and the New York City Alliance of all “Component A” programs from across the state.

Coordinate the completion of assigned grant deliverables and related narrative reports to funder.

Attendance to regional coalition and community work group meetings.

Attendance to quarterly meetings of  NYSDOH Sexual Violence Primary Prevention Committee (SVPPC)

Assist with development of new program initiatives in collaboration with DOH

Meet regularly with program team

Attend designated Board Meetings

Provide phone coverage as needed

Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Director
