The public policy arena provides an opportunity for sexual assault advocates and allied citizens to link with other nonprofits and advocacy organizations statewide and across the country to end rape, child sexual abuse and all forms of sexual violence. NYSCASA acts as the coordinating agency and information conduit in New York to coalesce the advocate's energy into action through an annual Capitol Day and regular alerts to constituents.

The Coalition collaborates at the state level to secure funding and other resources for Rape Crisis Programs, to improve access to the criminal and civil justice systems for survivors of sexual assault and to enhance the over-all health, mental health, educational and criminal justice response to sexual violence.

Nationally, the Coalition participates in the anti-sexual violence movement with other state coalitions and the National Alliance of Sexual Assault Coalitions to ensure continuation of the landmark Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), establishment of the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC) and other federal policies that have an impact on sexual assault survivors and their families and communities.
