If you work with victims of crime, have been in your current position for less than five years, and are committed to a career in victim services, the Basic NYSVAA is designed for you.
A Student Selection Committee reviews applications and selects up to 50 participants who demonstrate a commitment to serving crime victims. Those with less than five years of experience in their current area of specialization will be considered with preference. The Academy will consider additional criteria in order to represent urban, suburban, and rural communities and the state’s wide range of racial, cultural, and professional groups. If you are not selected you may ask to be put on a waiting list.
Advanced Institutes are designed to respond to education and training needs identified by mature providers in the field, including organizational development and sustainability, management and professional skills development and training. Classes are limited to 35 providers who have worked in victim services for more than five years or who are in management tracks. Certificates are awarded upon successful completion of all coursework and attendance at all sessions. Costs vary by site costs. Contact us to get updates on current programs.
