NYSCASA works every day to prevent Sexual Violence through outreach, education and advocacy.
Our member Rape Crisis Programs work in every county of the state to provide information and resources to help their communities prevent sexual assault and domestic violence and other crimes.
Through schools, businesses, private and public forums, professional trainings and other community settings, educators work to engage community members in strength-based, positive discussions about the widespread reality of sexual violence and aim to replace mis-understanding and ignorance with compassion and knowledge.
Age-appropriate presentations are available for virtually any audience through your local Rape Crisis Provider or NYSCASA.
State-of-the-art resources are shared amongst programs to enable them to use a variety of teaching methods that can effectively reach diverse populations with different learning styles and cultural backgrounds.
Helping the public understand the social norms that permit sexual violence to be as widespread as it is, and engaging bystanders to proactively work together to build a safer world, are two of the current themes found in Prevention work to end sexual assault.
In much the same way that we have become a society of people that questions the norms of smoking in public settings, because it makes sense to protect children and non-smokers from the perils of second-hand smoke, we can become a society that condemns sexual violence in all of its forms.
It takes all of us to prevent sexual violence.
Thank you for doing your part in this vital work!
