This two-part webinar series will provide an overview of the dynamics of sexual violence, specifically as it relates to the LGBTQ+ community. LGBTQ+ folks experience some of the highest rates of sexual violence, while also facing health disparities and discrimination. Part one of this webinar series will focus on language and understanding different identities within the community. This training is designed for folks new to learning about the LGBTQ+ community and is recommended for all individuals serving sexual violence survivors, including advocates, law enforcement, forensic examiners, and prosecutors.
Presenters:
Marli Mayon is the Sexual Violence Response Coordinator with the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence. Marli has worked in the anti-violence movement since 2017. In her direct service work, she has learned from survivors of the unique challenges experienced by young folks and communities pushed to the margins. She is passionate about ensuring services are survivor-centered, intersectional, and accessible. She graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Social and Cultural Analysis with an emphasis in Women and Gender Studies and through the University continues feminist research work on gender and sexuality. In her free time, Marli enjoys a night of listening to live music, creating elaborate charcuterie boards to be enjoyed by friends, and providing feminist critique of cinema
