The Sexual Assault & Crime Victims Assistance Program, with St. Peter’s Health Partners, in observance of April as National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, hosts an annual “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®,” a community march against rape and sexual violence at Riverfront Park, Troy.
The first-of-its-kind community event invites the public – especially men – to show support for victims/survivors by literally walking a mile in high-heeled shoes. Walkers will start from Riverfront Park, proceed down River St., up Congress St., down 3rd, and then back to Riverfront Park.
An estimated 500 people turn out yearly for the event. Proceeds benefit direct services to victims, such as counseling, legal advocacy, and education and outreach efforts.
For more information about the Walk please call 518-482-4433 or email Gina.Peca@sphp.com
