Description

As Brené Brown says, “clear is kind.” This is especially true in relationships between supervisors and those they supervise. In fact, being clear about expectations, tasks, and responsibilities will lead to greater staff satisfaction and clarity. Unfortunately, supervisors are often so focused on our own responsibilities that we may not notice that things aren’t getting done in the ways we were hoping until everyone may feel frustrated. What’s better is establishing expectations early on and regularly monitoring that they are on track. In our new hybrid workplaces, this will help staff stay engaged and focused on our shared organizational goals.

In this workshop, we’ll explore ways to make expectations clear, measurable, and collaborative with those we supervise. We’ll focus on approaches that are trauma informed and mindful of the dynamics that positional power creates in our work relationships. We’ll also consider how culturally responsive supervision offers respect and relationship building across our teams.

Participants will learn ways to make employee expectations clear, measurable, and collaborative. They’ll also learn about how trauma informed and culturally responsive supervision creates trust and facilitates authentic communication in the workplace. Finally, participants will learn tangible tools to start to use these practices in their supervisory relationships.
