Training

  • NYSCASA 40-Hour Training for New Advocates: This link will take you to the training registration on our external site, NYSCASA’s Coalition Manager. Please register for the advocacy training there! Please note that this training has not been approved by the NYS Department of Health and DOH certification will not be provided upon completion. However, if you wish to obtain a certificate of completion, please email info@nyscasa.org to request one.
  • “Foundations of Advocacy” Training Manual: Created by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC), this resource offers tools to equip new advocates with core knowledge and skills for supporting survivors of sexual violence.
  • Training and Events Calendar: Keep an eye on NYSCASA’s calendar for upcoming events and training opportunities!
  • Training Archive on YouTube: Recordings from most of our past webinars and training opportunities are available via our YouTube channel.

Resources

  • COVID-19 Updates: New York State is among those most affected by COVID-19. In response to this quickly evolving situation, we will be posting regular updates and information onto this page as soon as it becomes available: www.nyscasa.org/covid-19
  • Resources for Advocates and Service Providers: Resources compiled by the NYSCASA team for victim advocates, counselors, and other survivor-supporting professionals.
  • Film Collection: Members can stream films in the Media Education Foundation’s Gender Studies Collection through NYSCASA’s subscription. Use this link to create a free account; after signing up, you’ll receive an email confirmation with a link to access the film collection. Be sure to bookmark this URL so that you can access it later! If you have questions about accessing the films, please contact us via email with “Media Education Foundation” in the subject line at info@nyscasa.org.
  • Lending Library: NYSCASA’s Lending Library offers books, videos and other materials on a wide range of topics of interest to sexual violence survivors and advocates. Materials may be requested and borrowed by NYSCASA members. Our online catalog is in progress. In the meantime, please feel free to review our resource recommendations and contact info@nyscasa.org to learn more about materials available to our members.
  • National Sexual Violence Resource Center Library Catalog: NSVRC’s library houses the world’s largest collection of resources on preventing sexual harassment, abuse, and assault. In the library catalog — which is a free resource for advocates, researchers and the general public — you’ll find the latest journal articles, fiction and non-fiction books, films, children’s books, and more. While the NSVRC library does not circulate books, it can be an easy way for you to identify titles you’re interested in — and many journal articles can be made available upon request at no cost.
  • Resources for SADI Participants: Resources compiled by the NYSCASA team for participants of the NYSCASA Sexual Assault Demonstration Initiative. These resources are available for all of our members.
  • Resources on Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression for Aspiring Allies: Google Drive folder with resources generated by NYSCASA’s Solidarity PLACE (Peer Learning, Accountability, and Community Education) for Aspiring Allies in NYS Victim Services.
