Ithaca's 40th annual Take Back the Night will be held on Friday April 26th. This march, rally, and speak-out calls for an end to intimate partner and sexual violence in our community and world. Take Back the Night amplifies the message that you are not alone, we believe you, it is not your fault, you and your story matter, and there is space and resources for you in our community.
This year's theme is "Light Out of Darkness." Everyone who wants to see an end to all forms of domestic and sexual violence -- survivors, allies, campus groups, local organizations, advocates, and community members -- are invited to join us!
Marches: There will be 3 marches this year, all convening together at the Bernie Milton Pavilion on the Commons in downtown Ithaca for the Rally. Marchers are encouraged to make signs, bring banners, and/or wear clothes that highlight groups and organizations standing in solidarity with survivors or with messages of protest again domestic and sexual violence.
Marches will leave from:
- Ithaca College - Textor Ball at 6:15pm
- Cornell University - Ho Plaza at 6:30pm
- Downtown Ithaca - GIAC 310 W. Court St at 6:45pm
Rally & Candlelight Vigil, 7-9pm: The Rally will begin once the marches arrive and will feature community speakers and musical, dance, and spoken word performances. At the heart of the rally are speak-outs when survivors and allies share about their experiences and the impacts of domestic and sexual violence in whatever way feels most healing.
