Please join the PPGNY Action Fund, PPGNY Survivor Support Services, and the National Indigenous Women's Resource Center for a teach-in on the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women Crisis, and the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Sovereignty Initiative on May 2nd at 7pm.
The NIWRC is a Native-led nonprofit organization dedicated to ending violence against Native women and children. The NIWRC provides national leadership in ending gender-based violence in tribal communities by uplifting the collective voices of grassroots advocates and offering culturally grounded resources, technical assistance and training, and policy development to strengthen tribal sovereignty.
The teach-in will be led by NIWRC guest speaker Mary Kathryn Nagle. Mary Kathryn Nagle is an enrolled citizen of the Cherokee Nation. She is an attorney whose work focuses on the restoration of tribal sovereignty and the inherent right of Indian Nations to protect their women and children from domestic violence and sexual assault.
